Goals are aiming for a desired result.  What are our goals for LSR7?  What are we aiming at in education and what are the desired results?  Is the school system just a tax-supported babysitter or is it an institution that trains, equips, and prepares children for life?  In business successful leaders focus on their core operations that add to the bottom line.  Education is no different.  

We must bring the focus back to the basics of training, equipping, and preparing our children for life.  People with political agendas who use government resources to force their own ideologies on students don't act in our children’s best interests.  The results speak for themselves.  LSR7 used to be the best district in Missouri, not anymore.  During the past few decades things have crept in that hurt the quality of education in the district.  They may have beautiful names but they don't further education.  

We must focus on bringing academics back into the forefront.  When classrooms focus on core academic subjects and students are taught how to apply their knowledge, they learn critical thinking skills and how to think for themselves. 

LSR7 has great programs and services.  We also have many great teachers and coaches.  Our budget should focus on benefiting students.  Leaders should stop spending millions on agendas with no defined goals that don't improve education.  We must stop diverting money from necessary things into programs with no identifiable or quantitative goals.  

We can do better.  Our children deserve it.
